This year, we conducted the first financial disclosure survey in Armenia's industry related to climate change. We have joined the world's leading companies that aim to measure and reduce their carbon footprint every year. Roman Khudoliy, General Director of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) of Armenia and President of the GeoProMining Group of Companies, said this at Tuesday’s conference on the development of the ZCMC (PHOTOS). He noted that the ZCMC has been publishing a report on sustainable development for the second year already. "The consistency of our team in this work is another confirmation of the fact that we strive to ensure the company's compliance with the accepted standards of sustainable development," Khudoliy emphasized. He expressed confidence that the path of mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic progress of Armenia lies in the implementation of a responsible approach in the domains of the ZCMC activities. "We plan to start a solar energy investment project for production needs, initially with a capacity of 20 MW. The project of gradual electrification of the car park is also being considered. It is a part of the strategic plan to reduce the carbon footprint," said the general director of the ZCMC. He added that the dust emission control technique has been updated over the past two years, and work is being carried out to improve—by using modern technology—the stability of the tailings pond. "We plan to become one of the leading mining companies in the world, which will prove that now it is already possible to combine sustainable development and mining industry. But sustainable development is not only environmental protection. From the social point of view, the Combine aspires to become, as before, a catalyst of positive changes in the nearby communities. Sustainable development is a constant commitment with ever-changing goals, and it's a daily job," said Roman Khudoliy.
