A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Mindanao in the Philippines on Saturday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said. The origin of the quake was at a depth of 63 kilometers. A tsunami is expected to hit the Philippines and Japan soon. Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said tsunami waves could hit the Philippines by midnight local time (16:00 GMT) and could continue for several hours, Reuters reports. Japanese broadcaster NHK reports that tsunami waves up to a meter high are expected to reach Japan's west coast a little later - by 01:30 on Sunday (16:30 GMT on Saturday).
