The producers of “F9,” the ninth installment of the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise, have been fined $1 million after a stunt performer suffered injuries on set. The management of the film crew was fined by a UK court which investigated the incident that took place on the set in 2019, according to Motor. Vin Diesel's stuntman was seriously injured while performing a dangerous stunt, Motor.ru reports. Stunt performer Joe Watts had stood in for the main character during the balcony fall scene. The man was secured with a safety rope which, however, could not withstand the load during the second take. As a result, the stuntman fell on the concrete from a height of eight meters. Watts had suffered a skull and brain injury, due to which filming was suspended. The investigation revealed violations of the security systems of the stunt performers on the set. According to law enforcement agencies, no one from the film crew had checked the aforesaid safety rope before Watts had performed the stunt. In addition, the mat on which the stuntman was supposed to land was missing from the concrete slab. Despite this incident, the ninth installment of “Fast & Furious” grossed more than $725 million worldwide.
