A senior US Treasury Department official who oversees the fight against terrorist funding, said he had discussed with Turkish officials the deep US concern that Hamas was getting funds in Turkey, possibly in violation of that country's laws. Turkey is an important source of funding for Hamas, and this group's leadership appears to need to increase cash flows amid its ongoing war with Israel, said Brian Nelson, the US Department of the Treasury's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
