News - Armenia was and remains CSTO ally, secretary general says

Armenia was and remains an ally of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), there is no sense in drawing drastic conclusions because Yerevan is not participating in the Minsk session. CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov told TASS about this. "In my opinion, it makes no sense to draw any drastic conclusions from this situation [i.e. the Armenian delegation’s absence at the CSTO summit in Belarusian capital Minsk]. Armenia was and remains our ally. With this, I think everything is said," Tasmagambetov said. "As far as the [CSTO] Secretariat is aware, the reasons for the absence of the Armenian delegation were of a technical nature," the CSTO General Secretary added. "In any case, it is the decision of an independent and sovereign state, which cannot be influenced by any other state or organization. CSTO respects the decision of the Republic of Armenia as a full member of the organization."
