A delegation of the General Staff of the Italian Armed Forces is visiting Georgia. The purpose of the visit is to conduct bilateral consultations between departments in the defense sector, Georgia Online reports with reference to the country’s Ministry of Defense. According to the ministry, at the meeting the parties discussed current issues and prospects for further cooperation. The Georgian side gave the Italian guests a presentation on ongoing reforms in the Ministry of Defense. As a result of the meeting, a plan for bilateral cooperation between the defense ministries of Georgia and Italy for 2024 was signed. The military departments of Italy and Georgia actively cooperate within the framework of the NATO-Georgia Basic Package (SNGP) in the area of international exercises, as well as on issues of civil and military cooperation, military education and aviation.
