Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday received Leo Docherty, the Unite Kingdom’s (UK) Minister for Europe at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. The premier noted that the relations between Armenia and the UK are active, and stressed the importance of the first meeting of the Armenia-UK Strategic Dialogue held recently. Pashinyan expressed his conviction that Armenian-British cooperation has great potential and high-level mutual visits will contribute to its full realization. In turn, Docherty emphasized the recent official visit of Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan to the UK, which gave a new impetus to the expansion and deepening of bilateral ties. Also, the Minister for Europe stressed the UK's interest in deepening cooperation with Armenia. The interlocutors discussed as well the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The importance of continuing the peace process based on the principles agreed upon following the tripartite meetings held in Brussels on May 14 and July 15 was emphasized. The humanitarian issues of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing policy, as well as the measures being taken by the Armenian government to resolve these issues were conferred about, too. In this regard, the international community's humanitarian assistance to the displaced population of Nagorno-Karabakh was highlighted. Views were exchanged also on regional peace and stability, as well as several other matters of mutual interest.
