News - Kremlin spox comments on Armenia PM statement about Azerbaijan's preparation for war

Commenting on the words of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the latter’s preparations for war, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that he was not familiar with these words, RIA Novosti reported. "Sadly, I cannot say anything because I am not familiar with such statements of Azerbaijan at the state level. We have heard completely different statements of the leadership of the country, the leadership of Azerbaijan, in which it is said about the need to end a phase and the readiness to conclude a peace treaty [with Armenia]. Therefore, I cannot say anything about specifically that part of Pashinyan's statements," said Peskov, answering the question of how Pashinyan's words were viewed by the Kremlin. Pashinyan had stated, at the autumn meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan, that Armenia sees a threat of new escalation of tension in the region due to the "Western Azerbaijan" concept being implemented by Azerbaijani authorities. Also, he had stated that the position of Baku, which refuses to return the Armenian captives, is incomprehensible to Yerevan.
