The petition for the sale of MTS Armenia was reviewed, the submitted information was also checked with partners, and as a result was approved. This was announced Friday by the Minister of High-Tech Industry, Robert Khachatryan, during a press briefing after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government. Earlier, we reported that the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia approved the sale of 100 percent of the shares of MTS Armenia CJSC to Cypriot company Fedilco Group Limited. When asked how it happened that the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the National Security Service of Armenia did not see any risks from the point of view of Armenian national interest and approved the selling of all shares of MTS Armenia, Minister Khachatryan responded with surprise and said: "Do you see a national security threat there?" And when asked who the real owner of the aforesaid Cypriot company is, the minister responded at first that he does not recall and he does not know. But then in response to a clarifying question he said: "The real owner is known, but I will not say." He gave evasive answers to the other questions of the reporters and quickly left, just saying: "Apply in writing, I will answer."
