Poland has deployed a new tank battalion on its eastern border with Belarus, Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak informed, DW reported. The battalion will "restrain the aggressor and ensure security if we look in the eastern direction," Blaszczak said. "We are now forming new military units, recruiting young volunteers, while in 2015 we were closing military units in the east of our country," he added. Poland started forming the 1st Infantry Division, which will include the new battalion, in September 2022. The new tank battalion will start work near the border with Belarus, in the region of Brest. The division will have 12 military units, four brigades, an artillery brigade, four regiments, and three special battalions. The number of the division will exceed 30 thousand people, and it will have the US-made Abrams and South Korean-made K2 Black Panther tanks, too.
