US carries out 2 airstrikes against ‘pro-Iranian groups’ in Syria

by Lilit Nov. 12, 2023

The US launched two airstrikes against "pro-Iranian groups" in Syria, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced. It is noted that these strikes were carried out in response to a series of attacks on American troops in Syria and Iraq. US forces struck a training center near the town of Abu Kamal and a facility near the town of Mayadin, in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, near the Iraqi border. The US military is investigating whether members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or related groups were killed or injured in these airstrikes. Austin confirmed that US President Joe Biden had ordered these airstrikes.
