Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will oppose the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza after the war there against Hamas, Times of Israel reports. Netanyahu's stance stands in direct opposition to the US policy, which advocates for Palestinian governance in Gaza and its reunification "with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority, as stated by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. When asked about this, Netanyahu reaffirmed that Israel intends to keep "overall security control," allowing intervention to eliminate reemerging terrorists as needed. "I will tell you what there will not be. There will not be Hamas. [...] There cannot be an authority whose leader still has not condemned the terrible massacre 30 days later,” he said, referring to Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority.
