Iran's president called on Muslim countries to boycott Israeli goods and supply arms to Gaza

by Lilit Nov. 11, 2023

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi addressed an Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on Saturday, calling on all Islamic countries to show a moment of unity as the Gaza Strip comes under attack, Mehr reported. At the beginning of his speech at the Arab-Islamic meeting in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Raisi said, "Palestine is the key to Islamic and humanitarian dignity." The Iranian president also condemned Israel for its blockade of Gaza, calling the seizure a blatant violation of international laws. He said that "America is the one who ordered its partner, the Zionist regime, to commit crimes against Palestinians, blaming Washington for the crises in Islamic countries. The Iranian president reiterated the call for a referendum in the occupied territories as the only solution to the conflict. "We call for the complete lifting of the blockade on Gaza and the unrestricted reopening of the Rafah crossing. We must immediately demand the withdrawal of the Zionist regime from Gaza," the Iranian president said. "All countries, including Islamic countries, must provide security for Palestinians in the occupied territories. Trade and cooperation with the Zionist regime should be stopped, and Israeli goods should be boycotted," he added. Raisi also called on Islamic countries to supply arms to the Palestinian people. "The permanent and sustainable solution is the formation of an independent Palestinian state from sea to river," he said. "If our meeting today does not lead to action, it will further upset the Muslim nations," the Iranian president concluded.
