Explosions were heard at the American base at the Omar oil field in the province of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria, a local source told RIA Novosti. The base was attacked by drones and rockets, Al-Mayadeen TV reports, citing sources. Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that American aircraft attacked two targets in Syria, which were allegedly used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and pro-Iranian groups. He stressed that the shelling is not related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Pentagon Press Secretary Patrick Ryder said the US military came under 16 attacks in Iraq and Syria from October 17 to 26.
