Economy minister: Only about 40% of Armenia exports go to Russia

by Lilit Oct. 13, 2023

Only about 40 percent of Armenia's exports go to Russia, businesses are working, everything is normal, there are no problems, and there is no queue of Armenian trucks at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border. Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan told about this to reporters outside the Yerevan city hall Friday—and addressing the matter of possible problems in Armenia's economic relations with the Russia. "I want to remind that after June of last year, following the agreements between me and the minister of economic development of Russia, many new routes have been opened at the Lars checkpoint, the processes [of customs clearance] have been simplified [there]," said Kerobyan. To the remark that people are complaining about the situation at the Upper Lars checkpoint, the Armenian economy minister responded as follows: "There were issues for only two days [there]; that problem is gone." Kerobyan assured that there is no problem in connection with fuel either. "There was some problem in connection with gasoline, but our first petition was partially approved; we are working with the partners," he added. But regarding gasoline prices in Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan said he cannot say anything in that regard because these prices depend on the market.
