The runways of the airports in Damascus and Aleppo have been damaged because of Israeli airstrikes. Both airports are closed, the Syrian state agency SANA reports, citing a military source. It said that approximately 13:50 on Thursday, Israel fired rockets at the international airports of Aleppo and Damascus, as a result of which the runways were damaged. The source noted that "this aggression is a desperate attempt by the Israeli criminal regime to divert attention from the crimes it committed in the Gaza Strip and the huge losses suffered by the Palestinian resistance." The Israeli side has not yet commented on the news. Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes on targets in Syria in recent years, including airports in Damascus and Aleppo, but has rarely acknowledged or discussed the actions.
