A total of 8,076 families, or 31,350 persons, forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia are registered in Armenian capital Yerevan. Tigran Avinyan, the only candidate for mayor and serving Deputy Mayor, announced this at Tuesday’s inaugural session of the new Yerevan Council of Elders. According to him, the Yerevan Municipality is also engaged in the registration of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, assessment of their needs, and other respective processes. "The city hall does not deal with the provision of shelters, it only carries out the registration of the migration service, provides basic needs packages to families in extreme conditions, and collects information about families in need of social support and transfers it to the Armenian Red Cross Society," said Avinyan.
