Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has once again spoken about the prospects for peace in the South Caucasus region. “Based on the principle of resolving regional issues with the direct participation of countries in the region, Azerbaijan put forward the 3+3 cooperation format. At present, historical conditions have been created for the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the signing of a peace treaty and the transformation of the South Caucasus region into a space of peace and cooperation,” reads Aliyev’s address to the participants of the 27th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization. The meeting is taking place in the occupied Armenian city of Shushi, from where, as now from the territory of the entire Nagorno-Karabakh, the indigenous Armenian population has been forcibly displaced. Aliyev also said that in the next three years it is planned to resettle up to 100 thousand people to the occupied territories.
