Azerbaijani court rejects Ruben Vardanyan's complaint

by Lilit Oct. 9, 2023

The Azerbaijani court has rejected the complaint of former Minister of State of Nagorno Karabakh Ruben Vardanyan. According to the Azerbaijani news agency Trend, Afet Gazieva, Ruben Vardanyan's lawyer, filed an appeal against the ruling to choose detention as a preventive measure against Vardanyan. The appeal was examined by the Baku Appeal Court, chaired by Judge Gabil Mammadov. The court did not satisfy the appeal, considering the decision of the court of first instance justified. Ruben Vardanyan was illegally detained and later taken to Baku, and then arrested, solely on the pretext of holding a position in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.
