The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that they are conducting artillery strikes in Lebanon. According to an IDF Telegram post, these artillery strikes were initiated in response to 'an attack on Israeli territory just a few minutes ago.' As of early Sunday morning, the IDF reported ongoing combat operations aimed at countering militants from the Palestinian group Hamas and securing the country. Israeli Army spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus, informed CNN that Saturday's surprise attacks involved 'many hundreds,' potentially even up to 1,000, Hamas fighters. On Saturday morning, Hamas launched rocket attacks into Israel, and Israel reported the infiltration of hundreds of Hamas militants into its territory. In response to the current situation, Israel declared the commencement of 'Operation Iron Swords.' Conversely, Hamas announced the initiation of 'Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,' citing ongoing aggression and occupation by Israeli forces, as well as continuous provocations against the Palestinian holy Al-Aqsa Mosque as reasons for their actions."
