On October 7, the Armenian community of Luxembourg organized a demonstration in the heart of Luxembourg City to raise awareness about Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh. They called on European nations to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan instead of merely expressing concern. The community also demanded the immediate release of former and current state officials from Nagorno-Karabakh who are being held captive in Azerbaijan, as well as all Armenian prisoners. "We aimed to bring attention to Azerbaijan's policy of ethnic cleansing, which has forcibly displaced 120,000 Armenians from their historic homeland. We called on to join us in raising our voices together to prioritize the rights of all illegally detained Armenians and advocate for their swift, safe, and unconditional release. Among them is our dear friend and philanthropist, the co-founder of the 'Aurora' humanitarian award, and a champion of humanitarian causes, Ruben Vardanyan, who, unlike us, was in Artsakh supporting the Armenian cause during that challenging period," said Vahe Arakelyan, the representative of the Luxembourg Armenian community and organizer of the demonstration. The internationally renowned soprano Maria Guleghina was among the participants in the demonstration.
