The Chief of the Iranian General Staff, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, said that Azerbaijan has completely recaptured its territories after recent events in the Caucasus, emphasizing the need for full implementation of the security agreement with Iraq, Mehr reports. General Bagheri said this during a visit to the Higher University of National Defense on the occasion of the start of the new academic year. The ceremony at the university was also attended by Iran's Interior Minister, the head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters, and a number of Iranian and foreign students. “What Azerbaijan has done so far is to regain its territorial integrity. That is, thanks to the events of recent weeks, it was able to once again exercise full sovereignty and territorial integrity. Of course, in all these lands, minorities must live peacefully and with rights equal to those of other citizens,” he said. “From now on, we have two neighbors in the Caucasus, Azerbaijan and Armenia, whom we respect, and preserving their territorial integrity is important to us, and this is an issue that we have emphasized in our meetings and negotiations with officials from both countries,” the Iranian general said, adding, “We therefore hope that, having achieved complete peace, the Caucasus region will witness peace and reconstruction to improve the well-being of its people without changing the geographical and geopolitical boundaries of the region.” At the same time, he said, "there will not be justification for continuing the war after this."
