News - Commissioner for Crisis Management reaffirms EU support for Armenia territorial integrity

The European Union (EU) has strongly condemned the latest military action by the armed forces of Azerbaijan against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to the displacement of more than 100,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh. European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, noted this at the press conference held in Yerevan Friday. According to him, the EU quickly responded to the situation and quickly mobilized around €5 million in humanitarian aid, and in a few days that amount will reach € 10 million. Lenarcic added that they have intensified the EU civil protection mechanism, and the EU member states were able to respond. He said that many countries have already expressed their readiness and offered their assistance to Armenia. In particular, it is about hygiene items, food, and medicine; the hygiene items, and medicines are already provided to hospitals. European Commissioner for Crisis Management noted that the aforesaid countries are Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and Norway. And after this crisis phase, they will tend to continue assistance in the medium to long term, Lenarcic added. Also, the Commissioner for Crisis Management reaffirmed the EU's support for the territorial integrity of Armenia.
