We cannot replace one unreliable energy partner with another, President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, has said in response to a question about energy cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan. "I have already said that, especially considering Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we cannot replace one unreliable partner with another in the energy sector. And this is the position we continue to adhere to," she said. Speaking about the latest events in Nagorno Karabakh, Metsola noted that now it is necessary to focus on the humanitarian crisis, in other words, to understand how to help Armenia with the issue of refugees. "Tens of thousands of people have left their homes because they were forced to do so. But I also welcome all de-escalation efforts, and we hope they lead to something more concrete than what we have right now," she added.
