News - Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh dismantle three observation posts

Two observation posts in the Shushi and Askeran regions and one temporary observation post in the Mardakert region in Nagorno-Karabakh have been dismantled due to disarmament and the withdrawal of guard posts from the contact line of the parties, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports. “The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to carry out tasks in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Continuous interaction is maintained with Baku and Stepanakert, aimed at preventing bloodshed, ensuring security and observing humanitarian law in relation to civilians. No ceasefire violations have been recorded in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. During the day, in connection with the disarmament and withdrawal of guard posts from the contact line of the parties, two observation posts in the Shushi and Askeran regions and one temporary observation post in the Mardakert region were dismantled. In pursuance of the agreements reached on the cessation of hostilities, under the control of Russian peacekeepers, the counting of weapons, military equipment, small arms and ammunition in the warehouses of the armed formations of Nagorno-Karabakh continued. As of October 6, the following were delivered: 92 units of armored vehicles, 142 units of automotive vehicles, 124 units of air defense equipment, 112 units of field artillery guns, MLRS and mortars, 1 unit of UAV, more than 7 thousand units of small arms and anti-tank weapons, about 58.5 million ammunition. The protection of storage areas for weapons, military equipment and ammunition is organized by joint Russian-Azerbaijani guard posts.”
