News - New building of embassy in UK, bought for more than £17M, officially handed over to Armenia government

The new building of the Armenian embassy in the United Kingdom (UK) has been officially handed over to the Armenian government, informed Varuzhan Nersesyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the UK. "My thanks to former owners of Arundel Group for giving us a book detailing the rich history of this building,” the ambassador added on X—former Twitter.  Also, Nersesyan expressed hope that this building, which is located in the historic district of St.James’, will give a new impetus to the further development of bilateral relations between Armenia and UK, and added that the official opening of the embassy will take place soon. It was reported earlier that Armenia has purchased a new building for its UK embassy in downtown London for 17,380,800 UK pounds, in the vicinity of a number of embassies and UK government buildings. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, had announced this at a Cabinet session of the Armenian government. The funds for the purchase of the service building for this embassy were earmarked from the reserve fund of the Armenian government. According to the deputy FM, since 1992, the current embassy of Armenia in the UK was located in a building provided by the Armenian community of London, where the embassy occupied solely two rooms.
