News - UN court sets October 12 hearing for Armenia's claim against Azerbaijan

The International Court of Justice in The Hague has scheduled a hearing regarding Armenia's claim against Azerbaijan under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (‘CERD’), focusing on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This hearing is set for October 12, as announced by the court in an official statement. Armenia had previously submitted a claim to the International Court of Justice against Azerbaijan under the Convention on Racial Discrimination, urging the court to take immediate interim measures concerning Baku. “The International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, will hold public hearings in the case concerning Application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Armenia v. Azerbaijan) on Thursday 12 October 2023, at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court,” the statement says. The hearings will be devoted to the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by the Republic of Armenia on 28 September 2023.
