Armenia official to reporters: You know who signed Artsakh dissolution; why do you say PM Nikol Pashinyan?

by Lilit Oct. 5, 2023

You know who signed the dissolution of Nagorno-Karabakh state agencies. Why do you say Nikol Pashinyan? Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporter this after Thursday’s Cabinet session of the Armenian government—and referring to the remark that Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) fell during the rule of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, and to the question whether he, as a member of the Armenian government, analyzed what his share of guilt was in this situation. "The leadership of Artsakh had a different name when it signed the…state agencies of Nagorno-Karabakh. You o know who signed [it]? Why do you say Nikol Pashinyan?" Ask me questions about the economy," said the minister. To the question whether the members of the Armenian government have seen the conditions in which the people forcibly displaced from Artsakh are living now in Armenia, the minister of economy responded: "We participated by providing the first food to our forcibly displaced compatriots. Within 3-4 days, we provided approximately 75,000 food packages. At the first opportunity, people were accommodated in various places, some people were accommodated in hotels, including high-class ones; in some places, due to limited opportunities, they were accommodated in schools and other places. The prime minister announced that for the next six months, our citizens forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh will receive 50,000-dram assistance per person to solve their housing issues. Today, there are 50,000 empty apartments and houses in Armenia where [these] people can be housed." And to a reporter's question as to how they can rent a house for 40,000 drams a month, Kerobyan responded: "My friend's family, with a family of eight, has rented a 200,000-dram house in Parakar village [nearby Armenian capital Yerevan]."
