German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which he stated that he considers the use of military force unacceptable. "He [Scholz] emphasized that the German government is firmly committed to a negotiated settlement [of the situation] and the establishment of a lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, based on the principle of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan," Hoffmann added. According to her, the efforts by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, enjoy the full support of the German government. "The Chancellor stressed the importance of the maximum possible transparency regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and its development," said the representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers.
