News - Estonian Refugee Council opens representative office in Yerevan

On October 3, the Estonian Refugee Support Council inaugurated its representative office in Yerevan, Armenia. The organization also launched a humanitarian campaign titled "For Armenia" aimed at providing support to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. Eero Jansson, the head of the Estonian Refugee Council, emphasized that they had been preparing for a possible crisis in Armenia since the summer of 2023 when they started registering their official representation in the country. With the successful registration, they can now begin providing humanitarian assistance. The Estonian Refugee Support Council plans to offer multifunctional financial aid to refugees in Armenia, especially those in vulnerable situations. Their program includes support for long-term livelihoods, such as cash agricultural subsidies and small business start-up subsidies. The aid is organized in cooperation with local organizations and can be used for various needs, including food, drinking water, medicine, hygiene items, and rent. The amount of monetary aid is determined in collaboration with other humanitarian organizations operating in the region.
