News - Up to 700 trucks waiting in line at Russia-Georgia border

More than 600 trucks are waiting to pass through the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border in North Ossetia, the press service of the ministry of internal affairs of North Ossetia told Interfax last week. "As of 05:00 Moscow time on August 30, 610 heavy vehicles are waiting to pass through the Upper Lars checkpoint to Georgia," said the interlocutor of aforesaid news agency. And as of Monday morning, there were up to 700 heavy trucks in the queue. Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of North Ossetia, Irbek Tomaev, had said that the road work led to an increase in the queue of heavy trucks waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint. He had added that this road work will be completed within three days. The Upper Lars crossing is located on the Georgian military road which is currently the only land road connecting not only Georgia, but also Armenia to Russia.
