News - Australia Armenians protesting against Azerbaijan military aggression against Karabakh

Numerous Armenians living in Australia have traveled from across the country to the capital Canberra to speak out about the ongoing humanitarian crisis after more than 100,000 Armenians were forced by Azerbaijan to flee to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan’s most recent military aggression against Karabakh. A United Nations delegation made its first visit to the region in three decades. It arrived there on Sunday, and described the ongoing crisis as a difficult and delicate geopolitical situation. In a statement to SBS News, a spokesperson for Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the department was deeply concerned and was closely monitoring the developing humanitarian situation. And Australian foreign minister Penny Wong has publicly called on Azerbaijan to stop its military escalation and called on all parties to engage in dialogue and commit to a just and lasting peace.
