The monument We are Our Mountains (“Karabakh People”), which is popularly called “Grandfather and Grandmother,” has long become a symbol of the strength of spirit of the Artsakh people. The author of this work is People's Artist of the USSR, famous sculptor-monumentalist Sargis Baghdasaryan. The opening of the monument took place on November 1, 1967.
