News - Armenia invites Russia to sign bilateral agreement on implementation of Rome Statute

Armenia proposed Russia to sign a bilateral agreement on the implementation of the Rome Statute. This was announced by Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Armenia's representative on international legal affairs, during the debates on the respective bill at Thursday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia. According to Kirakosyan, talks have been held with Russian colleagues for many months regarding Armenia's intentions to ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. "The Russian side has been invited to sign a bilateral agreement on the implementation of the Rome Statute, according to which the parties are obligated to provide each other with guarantees on the most disturbing issues," explained Kirakosyan. At the same time, he stressed that the aforesaid proposal was sent to Russia back in April, but no response has been received.
