White House: US expects Karabakh residents will be able to receive humanitarian aid

by Lilit Sept. 27, 2023

The US authorities expect that the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh will be able to receive humanitarian aid, and the American side will provide them with additional support. This is stated in a written statement by the head of the press service of the White House National Security Council, Adrienne Watson. She noted that the American side was “saddened by the news that at least 68 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the explosion of a gasoline storage facility in Nagorno-Karabakh.” “We call for continued humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh for the benefit of all those in need,” Watson said. The White House spokeswoman assured that “the United States will continue to support those affected by the current crisis.” She noted that “28,000 people crossed to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh.” “[USAID] Administrator Samantha Power is on the ground and the United States is announcing additional humanitarian assistance to meet health and other immediate needs, help local residents obtain shelter and essential supplies, including hygiene kits, blankets and clothing, and to meet the needs of those affected or displaced by violence in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Watson said.
