News - Deputy PM: 19,000 people from Karabakh crossed into Armenia so far

As of now, 19,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh have crossed Armenia’s checkpoint in Kornidzor village, and more than 2,500 of them are already in their places of accommodation and have petitioned to the Armenian government for assistance. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan noted about this during a press conference Tuesday. "At the moment, there are 1,200 people in [Armenia’s] Goris [city] who are in the process of placement; it takes hours for obvious reasons. The rest said they have their own places of residence. Understanding that it is the will of the people, we did not object to that will, that they go to the addresses where they decided. However, I hope that this flow will subside soon, and when we have sorted out the most important issues related to placement, we will also find those people who are in the places decided by them, and maybe we will find out in different formats what needs to be done about them,” the Armenian deputy PM said. He emphasized that now the question of expanding the toolkit to assist these people is being discussed.
