Firehawk Achieves $1.4B Valuation with $150M Investment for Rocket Growth

by Lilit Oct. 29, 2026

In a significant development for the aerospace sector, Dallas-based rocket propulsion company Firehawk has successfully secured over $150 million in a Series D funding round, increasing its valuation to a remarkable $1.4 billion. The impressive funding round was spearheaded by Advent and Rochefort Asset Management, bringing a new wave of capital from both new and existing investors, surpassing the initial target of $100 million. Firehawk intends to utilize these funds to accelerate U.S. production capabilities for rocket propellant, solid rocket motors, and artillery motors, fortifying its position in the defense sector. The fresh influx of capital will play a crucial role in expanding Firehawk's Oklahoma-based propellant and rocket motor plant in Lawton along with its missile integration facility in Crawford, Mississippi. This expansion also includes the establishment of new research and development sites, as well as a significant boost in workforce hiring. According to Firehawk's funding announcement via social media on October 28, the company aims to leverage its enhanced production facilities to fulfill a commercial agreement with General Dynamics, which involves the manufacture of over 100,000 artillery motors slated for 2027. The anticipated timeline for initiating low-rate production at Oklahoma's facility is mid-2027. Founded in 2019 by CEO Will Edwards, Firehawk has staked its reputation on producing hybrid rocket engines utilizing advanced 3D-printed fuel—a cutting-edge methodology that distinguishes it in a competitive industry. Firehawk now presents itself as a comprehensive solution provider, covering the entire production chain from propellant to motors, and eventually fully assembled rounds. The company has pinpointed a critical business opportunity in providing volume solutions as existing suppliers struggle to meet the growing demand from the U.S. military for rockets and missiles. Firehawk's innovative manufacturing process boasts the ability to output propellant at faster rates and on a larger scale specifically for smaller tactical weapons. April marked a pivotal moment for Firehawk as it broke ground on its Great Plains Arsenal located in Lawton, setting the stage for increased production capacity. Additionally, Firehawk's Crawford site is currently equipped to integrate 40,000 tactical rockets annually, with ambitious plans to triple this capacity to around 120,000 units at full-rate production levels. In the forefront of its work with the U.S. military is the publication detailing the Hydra-70, a 70 mm unguided rocket implemented from U.S. Army attack helicopters. This year saw Firehawk securing a spot among four new companies chosen to produce Hydra-70 rockets, along with iRocket, Nammo Perry, and Albers. These companies are tasked to deliver 24 prototype M151 rockets within an 18-month timeframe. A pivotal accomplishment occurred in August when Firehawk successfully conducted test firings of six Hydra-70 rockets at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, all of which met performance expectations. This Series D round follows prior investments including a $60 million Series C in September 2025, with an ensuing strategic investment in November 2025 aimed at expediting the production and integration of solid rocket motors. Despite this flurry of activity, Firehawk has yet to disclose specific figures on the delivery of Hydra-70 rockets or rocket motors to the U.S. military, as well as the anticipated timeline for the Oklahoma plant to reach full-rate production. Nevertheless, the company's recent advancements and ambitions signal a promising trajectory in the competitive landscape of aerospace technology.
