His influence has driven Purdue to a national standing, amassing 117 wins since the 2022-23 season's onset, ranking fourth nationally. A Boilermaker to his core, Painter is not just a coach but also an alumnus, having played as a point guard between 1989-1993. He feels privileged to continue coaching at his alma mater, stating, 'Purdue is a very special place for me, and it’s an honor to continue to be the head basketball coach at my alma mater... I’m excited to continue to elevate our program with class and strive to reach all of our goals on and off the court.'
