Early Tuesday morning, a formidable fire raged through Baja Tires in San Jose, California, turning the tire business into a charred skeleton of its former self. The inferno, reported at 5:33 a.m., quickly grew in intensity, prompting a third-alarm response and the mobilization of over 50 firefighters. Despite the roaring flames that pierced through the roof, the diligent efforts of the San Jose Fire Department ensured the blaze did not spread to adjacent businesses. Battalion Chief Leah Diaz of the San Jose Fire Department stated, "The initial response faced daunting conditions, with flames visibly engulfing the roof of Baja Tires. However, through strategic and aggressive firefighting methods, our team was able to shield surrounding structures from any severe damage, limiting their losses primarily to minor water damage." The interior of Baja Tires was left with extensive damage, including charred vehicles. Regrettably, the tire business is now a total loss due to the fire's sheer devastation. Firefighters executed a defensive operation, which meant they could not enter the building to combat the flames from within, focusing instead on containing the fire and preventing further destruction.
