Russia has strongly rejected any attempts to place blame on Russian peacekeepers for the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the Russian Federation firmly disagrees with efforts to assign responsibility to Moscow and its peacekeepers. He commended the dedication of Russian peacekeepers, stating that they exhibit real heroism while carrying out their duties in accordance with their mandate. “We understand the emotional intensity of this moment, but we categorically disagree with the attempt to place responsibility on the Russian side, or even more so on the Russian peacekeepers, who show real heroism in performing their functions in accordance with the mandate that they have,” Peskov emphasized. “No one can blame the peacekeepers for doing something wrong. We will never agree with such reproaches,” he added. Peskov also noted that Moscow will continue to engage with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and work towards safeguarding the rights of Armenians in Karabakh.
