Honda Launches Updated Accord in Japan

by Lilit Aug. 3, 2026

To keep the Accord relevant in the competitive sedan market, Honda Motor has introduced subtle updates to the lineup for the Japanese domestic market. The 2024 Accord for Japan features new clear side markers replacing the previous orange ones within the headlight assembly, contributing to a more streamlined aesthetic. Additionally, the lower bumpers and side thresholds now sport body-colored aerodynamic covers, a departure from the former black finish, giving the vehicle a sleeker profile. These design tweaks are part of Honda's approach to continually refresh its lineup without instituting a complete model overhaul. Beyond aesthetics, the Accord XI maintains its mechanical integrity, featuring a hybrid powertrain that integrates a 2.0-liter four-cylinder LFA engine producing 145 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque, combined with an electric motor that supplements with an additional 184 horsepower. This powertrain offers three driving modes: Hybrid Drive for everyday efficiency, Engine Drive for robustness, and EV Drive for emission-free maneuvering. Honda's commitment to market-specific enhancements underscores its understanding of different consumer needs and regulatory landscapes. By providing a product that blends innovation with practicality, Honda hopes to secure its position as a leading player in the sedan category. The redesigned Accord XI is set to hit the Japanese market early in 2024 and promises a driving experience that marries the brand’s hallmark reliability with sustainable technology.
