Russia continues to take consistent steps to stabilize the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Telegram channel of the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The Russian peacekeeping contingent is monitoring compliance with the ceasefire established on September 20 through its active mediation. “The absolute priority of all our efforts is to prevent a new outbreak of armed confrontation and casualties among civilians,” the statement says. The Russian peacekeeping contingent provides large-scale humanitarian support to the Armenian population. Over the past two days, Russian peacekeepers have delivered 125 tons of humanitarian aid and 65 tons of fuel to the region. The plans include ensuring regular supplies of food and essential goods along both the Lachin and Agdam routes. According to the latest data, there are up to 700 refugees in the peacekeepers’ base camp, more than 400 of them are children. With the direct participation of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, two rounds of negotiations took place between representatives of Baku and Stepanakert. Among the priority tasks of these contacts are issues of demilitarization, restoration of peaceful life and ensuring the rights and security of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. “We hope that the positive results of this process will contribute to the speedy resumption of work on the implementation of the set of agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia for 2020-2022, including the unblocking of transport communications, the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the coordination of a peace treaty and the development of humanitarian contacts,” it says in the statement.
