The Yerevan city administration has announced that the Kievyan Bridge, more commonly known as the Big Razdan Bridge, will reopen to traffic two weeks earlier than expected, on August 15 instead of the initially planned August 29. This news comes as part of a comprehensive update about the extensive capital renovation project that involves significant improvements to both the vehicular and pedestrian paths. The ongoing works include the restoration of driving surfaces and pedestrian areas, renewal of expansion joints, and upgrading of the drainage and waterproofing systems. Additionally, the railings and the structural supports of the bridge are being fully restored. One of the notable upgrades involves relocating the street lighting wires underground, further enhancing the infrastructure's sustainability and reliability. The bridge, which has been closed since June 17 for these necessary renovations, has already caused changes in numerous bus routes and increased traffic congestion in various parts of the city, raising discontent among residents. However, the early completion of this phase is expected to mitigate some of these disruptions. The city administration assured that all renovation activities will be concluded by the end of the year, promising a restored and reliable bridge that will serve its crucial role in Yerevan's transport network, ensuring smoother transit and enhancing urban mobility.
