Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Armenia remains a close ally of Russia. Despite the ongoing challenges, Moscow maintains dialogue with various parties, especially with Armenia. He noted that on September 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Peskov underlined the strong cultural and historical ties between the two nations, highlighting that there are more Armenians residing in Russia than in Armenia itself. Russia is committed to fulfilling its obligations, continuing the dialogue with Armenia, including with Prime Minister Pashinyan, and working towards ensuring the rights of the residents of Karabakh, particularly the Karabakh Armenians, are upheld. “Armenia remains our ally, a close state. Armenia is a people close to us. You know that there are more Armenians living in our country than in Armenia itself, much more. We will continue to fulfill our functions, we will continue the dialogue with the Armenian side, including Pashinyan, and we will continue to work to ensure that all the rights of the residents of Karabakh are respected, I mean the Karabakh Armenians,” Peskov concluded.
