Residents and visitors near Kendrick Mountain in northern Arizona are on high alert due to the Spring Fire, which started in the Parks-Pumpkin Center area and is becoming increasingly dangerous. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management has informed people in the region to be ready for a possible evacuation, as the alert level was raised from 'go' to 'set' as of the morning of June 28. The Spring Fire began on June 27 along Spring Valley Road, roughly 20 miles northwest of Flagstaff, and by June 28 had grown to cover 112 acres. Initially handled by the Ponderosa Fire Department, responsibility has now been transferred to the state forestry department. Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing, with firefighting teams deployed from various parts of Arizona, working tirelessly both day and night to prevent the fire from spreading further. Recent updates posted on social media indicated that the forward momentum of the fire was stopped and containment lines remained secure overnight. Firefighters are currently concentrating on extinguishing remaining hot spots with the aim of achieving full containment. Thankfully, there has been no structural damage reported so far. The investigation into the cause of the Spring Fire is still underway.
