News - EU ambassador to Alen Simonyan: Situation is extremely difficult for Armenia, Armenian people

Speaker Alen Simonyan of the National Assembly (NA) on Monday received the new Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, the NA informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Congratulating the guest on assuming the position of the Head of the mission of the EU in Armenia, the NA speaker expressed conviction about effective cooperation with joint efforts. Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh and the mass crime were condemned at the meeting. “It is a very difficult situation for the region, but it is extremely difficult for Armenia and the Armenian people,” the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia stressed. Alen Simonyan, in turn, lauded the addressed assessments and appeals of the EU leadership regarding Azerbaijan’s latest military aggression, considering the role of the European Union to be key in establishing stability and security in the region. He thanked him for providing financial support for humanitarian aid to the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians. The necessity to impose international sanctions on Azerbaijan was underscored at the meeting.
