Minister: Armenia ready to unblock communications as it aligns with country’s interests

by Lilit Sept. 25, 2023

Armenia has unequivocally rejected and will continue to reject any notion of extraterritorial or corridor logic, according to Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures. He made this declaration while responding to inquiries from Armenpress. In response to questions about recent discussions surrounding the "Zangezur Corridor" by Turkish and Azerbaijani officials and whether Armenia's position has changed, Sanosyan emphasized Armenia's unwavering stance. He stated that Armenia remains committed to high-level agreements, particularly those confirmed during the leaders' meeting between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels on July 15, 2023. These agreements, as outlined by President of the European Council Charles Michel, include mutual recognition of each country's territorial integrity (with an area of 29.8 and 86.6 thousand square kilometers, respectively), border delimitation based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, and the unblocking of regional communications grounded in the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity. Sanosyan stressed that Armenia is not only ready to unblock communications but also eager to see it happen promptly as it aligns with Armenia's interests and the agreements reached.
