Qualifications:
Essential:
- Minimum of two years' experience in social, recreational, or educational programs within the last five years, including one year of full-time employment in a patient activities program in a healthcare, mental health, or handicapped care setting.
- Professional background as an occupational therapist, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, occupational therapy assistant, or a qualified Social Worker.
- Willingness to complete a minimum of 36 hours of Department of Health Services approved training specifically designed for this role (not required upon hire) and engage in regular consultation with experienced therapists.
Health and Language Requirements:
- Must provide a health examination and TB clearance.
- Fluency in English and Armenian, with proficient written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
Technical and Personal Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Highly motivated, energetic, and organized.
- Creative and innovative in designing activities.
- Team-oriented with excellent multitasking abilities.
- Resourceful in planning activities and games.
- Ability to create a monthly activity program for day-to-day operations.
Activity Coordinator Responsibilities:
The Activity Coordinator plays a crucial role in both the administrative and direct care aspects of our program, under the guidance of the Program Director and/or the multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with group recreational and social activities.
- Providing personal care services under the supervision of the center RN.
- Coordinating appointments and transportation for participants.
- Supporting participants during meal times.
- Contributing to the daily operations of the center and undertaking additional duties as required.
- Attending MDT meetings, conducting initial and follow-up assessments, and developing individual activity plans.
- Planning and leading a variety of engaging activities.
- Fostering a positive environment and participating in regular training sessions.
Additional Skills & Attributes:
Candidates with musical, artistic, or theatrical talents are highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
This role involves direct interaction with elderly or disabled adults, requiring physical exertion and a flexible approach to the changing needs of participants.
Job Details:
Part-time position offering $24.00 - $30.00 per hour for an expected 30 hours per week. Benefits include a 401(k) plan. The schedule covers day shifts from Monday to Friday, including morning shifts. Applicants must have at least one year of computer skills experience and be able to commute to Sylmar, CA 91342. The work location is in-person.
