Aprilia is ramping up its pursuit of Francesco Bagnaia, who faces losing his Ducati seat to up-and-coming racer Pedro Acosta. While Ducati experiments with its roster, Aprilia, led by Rivola, is intent on constructing an exclusively Italian team. However, the competition heats up as Yamaha makes a compelling bid for Bagnaia's signature, aiming to disrupt Aprilia's plans. As Aprilia navigates its signing challenges, the team has also pinpointed another potential recruit: Fabio Di Giannantonio, whose current tenure with VR46 remains uncertain following a strenuous season. Despite Bagnaia showing stronger performance statistics over GP25 peer Di Giannantonio, the latter did manage to eclipse teammates Franco Morbidelli and the rookie Fermin Aldeguer, although his sixth-place result fell shy of projected goals. Interestingly, Di Giannantonio isn’t only on Aprilia's radar. His lone Grand Prix victory at the 2023 Qatar GP adds credibility to his portfolio, complemented by a consistent podium presence. Simultaneously, Gresini Racing is contemplating re-acquiring his talent, contingent upon Alex Marquez's potential transition to KTM. With a promising seat at Aprilia’s factory team potentially on offer, resisting the allure may be difficult for Di Giannantonio. The ripple effects in the MotoGP circuit extend to VR46, where whispers suggest a dual overhaul of team seats. Linked with the acquisition plans for World Superbikes talent and Ducati testing stalwart Nicolo Bulega, VR46 seems poised for an ambitious reshuffling. Amid this shuffle, Di Giannantonio's place in MotoGP appears secure, but Franco Morbidelli’s future may lie in a different racing arena if he emulates Bulega's likely switch.
