The Philadelphia Eagles are navigating significant changes within their offensive line as they confront an uncertain start to the season. Landon Dickerson, a linchpin of their line since his 2021 NFL entry, found himself moved to the IR list after sustaining a bone bruise on his right knee in Week 1. What followed were pivotal shifts: the retirement of long-time right tackle Lane Johnson and the trade of center Cam Jurgens to the Ravens. In a likely final assignment for the Eagles, Jurgens transitioned awkwardly to left guard in place of Dickerson, a move that did not meet expectations. 2025 UDFA Willie Lampkin stepped up to make his debut start, yet the Eagles faltered against the Jaguars in Week 5. With Dickerson's return imminent, head coach Nick Sirianni has hesitated to confirm the three-time Pro Bowler's role, leaving room for speculation on his comeback conditions. General manager Howie Roseman had previously extended Dickerson's contract in March 2024, valuing the deal at $84 million over four years. Modifications during the past offseason shortened the contract to retain Dickerson through 2027 for $36 million. As trade deadlines loom on November 10, insiders like Ian Rapoport of NFL Network suggest the Eagles might entertain trade offers for Dickerson. However, despite a 2-3 start with an ongoing losing streak, Rapoport clarifies that the Eagles do not intend to dismantle their roster, given their competitive stance within a competitive NFC East. The division sees the Giants leading despite their own challenges, while the Cowboys and Commanders trail similarly. Should Dickerson remain, his status as a starter could remain questionable into 2026 given a lackluster sole season performance. Potential offseason developments could see the Eagles contemplating a release, a move which would pivot $12.13MM into dead money, albeit with $1.91MM savings in cap space. Moreover, the Eagles have opened practice windows for players like Calcaterra and Bennett, who were shelved with back and knee injuries during August. With six IR activations left for the season, there is anticipation surrounding rookie Stowers’s debut as he recovers from pre-season injuries. The Eagles' adaptation to these dynamic circumstances will be crucial as the season progresses.
